The Kentucky Body Armor Grant Program, administered by the Attorney General’s Office of Criminal Investigations, helps KLEC-certified peace officers acquire body armor and other protective equipment. Eligible items include body armor, duty weapons, ammunition, electronic-control devices, and body-worn cameras, with applications for soft body armor receiving priority consideration.
Agencies must have a policy requiring mandatory wear of body armor, and each item purchased remains assigned to the named officer throughout its 5-year lifecycle. Questions about the grant program can be directed to OAGBAGP@ky.gov
